Education and Achievements


Eric's educational journey is marked by the depth and prestige of the institutions he attended. He earned a Juris Doctorate with a focus on Litigation from Thomas M. Cooley Law School, graduating Cum Laude and consistently recognized on the Dean's List and Honor Roll. He also holds a Master of Laws in Taxation from the University of Alabama, a Master of Business Administration from Rice University, and a Master of Business Analytics from Duke University. Since founding Dick Law Firm, PLLC in Houston, Texas, in 2008, Eric has specialized in representing homeowners and business owners against insurance companies in first-party breach of contract cases. Under his leadership, the firm has grown to represent around 4,000 clients. Eric successfully advocated for over 2,000 clients affected by Winter Freeze Uri, ensuring they received fair compensation for their damages. He also represented over 500 clients in the Watson Explosion and over 200 in the Exxon Explosion, providing swift and effective legal solutions.

Public Service and Education Leadership

Elected in 2016 to represent Precinct 4 at the Harris County Department of Education (HCDE), Eric progressively took on more significant leadership roles, serving as Vice President and then President of the Board. His visionary leadership led to substantial growth and strategic initiatives that enhanced educational programs and infrastructure across Harris County.

During his tenure, Eric championed continuing and expanding crucial programs like Head Start, established Texas's largest adult learning center, co-founded community initiatives like "Because We Care" and the Teacher Tools Initiative, and advocated for specialized education through Fortis Academy and the Academic and Behavior Schools. He also raised the minimum wage for HCDE workers, demonstrating his commitment to fair compensation.

Following the tragic events in Uvalde, Eric swiftly spearheaded efforts to enhance school safety measures and active shooter training for educators. His dedication to comprehensive education is evident in his support for diverse programs like CASE for Kids, CASE Debates, Equine Therapy, and the Coolwood Head Start Center.
